white opaque, nontoxic, environmentally safe

It has been reported that Peiser Stiffer White 184 is too stiff for most purposes. ( Sorry to those who got the samples).

Peiser White 180 is about the same as Stiff Duro

Peiser White 171 is a less stiff, easier working white. Ought to become the standard.

Preheat bars to 1350F, (735C), before forming in a glory hole at 2200F, (1200C). It has been reported that working the bars uncased at higher temperatures may promote “brittleness” of the opal.

It has been recorded that over heating will “burn out “ the opal and should be avoided, though it can be restruck with gradual reheats.
